WASHINGTON: Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif visited Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) headquarters during his five-day visit to United States.
According to ISPR, the army chief held a meeting with CIA Director John Brennan at Langley and “discussed regional security challenges and way forward”.
ISPR said General Raheel Sharif specially highlighted need for permanent stability, and requirement of conducive environment in region for re-initiating Afghan reconciliation process.
Director CIA acknowledged accomplishments of operation Zarb-e-Azb, its positive impact on security calculus, ISPR said in a statement.
CIA Director appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for reconciliation and discussed opportunities presented for future of an enduring regional peace, according to ISPR.–
