Here are the few tricks that restaurants play on you
Flowery Fancy Menu
Most restaurants do this, if you notice. They would name the items as ‘a glass of flowery Daiquiri’ or ‘drink me baby one more lime’. Descriptive and flowery language generally helps in increasing the sales by up to 27%. By sounding fancy they make us (or our minds) believe that they know what they are doing. So things like ‘charcoal-fired’, ‘slow cooked’ and etc. actually make us believe that the dish is delicious.
Location of dishes
You always notice the top right corner first and this is the thing used by restaurants. The dishes that are on the expensive side will always be on the top right corner. Sides, soups, and salads on the left side. They also try and keep space around the high profit dishes, sometimes even give them a separate page with gorgeous photographs to attract our attention.
Tempting Pictures
The delicious looking dishes more often than not, never manage to live up to the hype created by their pictures. The pictures will always look better, and if that’s the reason why you’re choosing the dish you’re choosing, you’d unfortunately be left disappointed.
Menu offers limited options
The menu does not offer more than 7 dishes on one page and this drags us into paradox of choice. The page offers us not too much little not too much more.
