Big controversy erupts in Pak-Eng series

Wahab-Riaz

Dubai: British media on Sunday has claimed thatĀ England have complained to the match referee that Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz deliberately temperedĀ the ball during the fourth day of the second Test.

According to British media, incident took place during England’s second innings with batsman Joe Root getting involved in a heated argument with pacer.

Daily mail report stated that “Root complained to the umpires because he felt Pakistan fast bowler Riaz had deliberately trod on the ball,”

It further said thatĀ “England coach Trevor Bayliss visited the match referee Andy Pycroft to alert him to the incident, as Root, who was battling to save the game, WahabĀ briefly became involved in a heated exchange.”

But Pakistan team manager Intikhab Alam said he was unaware of the incident despite British media claiming the incident was an attempt to alter the state of the ball.

Alam said that “I am not aware of any such report or incident, Riaz was not summoned by the match referee so there is no issue on that.”

Still no further action has been taken against the pacer and nor he was called by the referee.

It is to be kept in mind that Pakistan is very near to take lead in the series against England as Pakistan at the moment just need 4 wickets to win the 2nd Test.
