The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of United States is quite obvious to keep tabs on those whom it has a slightest suspect on, but now it has been revealed that even celebrities are not spared by the organization.
Walt Disney
Yes, the cartoonist icon also had FBI files i.e. he was also being followed. He had a complex relationship extending over 30 years with FBI which started from 1933 up till Disney’s death in 1963. The creator of Mickey Mouse worked for FBI as an informant and reported the names of Hollywood who were supposed to be associated with communism. In return of his service, FBI allowed Disney to film the Mickey Mouse Club in its headquarters in Washington.
Steve Jobs
In 1991, Steve Jobs was being considered to be appointed on President George’s H.W Bush’s Export Council and at that time FBI conducted a background check on him. According to the FBI file on him, “several individuals questions Jobs’ honesty, stating that [he] will twist the truth and distort reality in order to achieve his goals.”
Charlie Chaplin
The silent film icon also had a 2000 page FBI file which was made on the account that Chaplin who was a British citizen was a communist sympathizer and thus a potential threat to national security. The FBI also brought MI5 into the scene to spy on Chaplin. He was stopped to reenter into US by the US Attorney General after a trip to London in 1952, Chaplin moved permanently along with his wife to Switzerland and died there 25 years later.
Marilyn Monroe
The blonde diva was also present in FBI files but it majorly concerned her husband who was suspected to have involvement with Marxist and Communist groups.
