PM Nawaz takes notice of ‘Food Shortage’ in Kunduz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has on Wednesday took notice of ‘Food Shortage’ in Kunduz, district of Afghanistan.

According to details, PM has ordered Foreign Office (FO) of Pakistan to arrangeĀ the transportation of wheat stock to Kunduz.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister House said that this step is being taken as a goodwill gesture on behalf of the people and Government of Pakistan for the returning residents of Kunduz facing severe food shortage after Taliban retreat.

It is to be kept in mind that Kunduz,Ā the northern Afghanistan city where people are suffering major food shortages after the provincial capital fell to a lightning Taliban assault in their biggest military victory since 2001.

Also, it is pertinent to mention here thatĀ Pakistan and Afghanistan had signed an agreement in 2008 for supply of 50,000 tonnes of wheat to Afghanistan
