Have you heard of a place where you can enjoy sunshine even at midnight? Well, it does happen in Alaska, also known as the ‘land of midnight sun’ during the summers. Here, the sun never sets in summers and never rises in winters.
At this place of the globe, the sun remains stuck on either above the horizon or below the horizon. The sun usually rises on March 22nd, and refuses to go down before the September 21st. when it finally sets, it cannot be seen above horizon from November 18th to January 24th.
This is the state where it is allowed to shoot a bear but waking him up to take photo is prohibited. The area can attributed with frequent and great earth quakes, volcanoes, and the largest and smallest mountain peaks in the United States.
It contains 17 out of 20 tallest mountains in the United States.
The country is famous for having gold in liberal amounts and contains other significant mineral resources. It is the only state having Platinum. This land can also be attributed as the land of islands and is home to half of the world’s glaciers.
Another interesting fact regarding the place is that only 20% area of the state is accessible through roads and it has only 12 numbered highways. It has the world’s largest rechargeable battery weighing 1400 tons which incurred the cost of $35M for its making.
This is one of the large states of US but is ranked among one of the least populated states of the country.
