Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz, Yasin  Malik under house arrest on Eid

SRINAGAR: Indian authorities on Friday morning have placed leaders of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yaseen Malik under house arrest.

The said leaders were also not allowed to celebrate Eid with their supporters and family members.

Reports said the internet service has also been suspended in Srinagar city of the Indian-occupied territory for two days.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat leaders appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir not to forget the victims of Indian state terrorism including orphans and widows on this gracious occasion.

The veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said that forceful occupation of India over Jammu and Kashmir had made the Kashmiris’ life miserable, KMS reported.

He expressed the concern over confiscation of sacrificial animals and arrests of people by police in Rajouri and other areas of Jammu region.

Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Hakeem Abdul Rashid, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Bilal Sidiqi, Zafar Akbar Butt and Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori in their statements denounced the arrest spree unleashed by Indian police on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha.

The APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in his statement said that the Muslims of Kashmir were celebrating Eid in an atmosphere where a ban had been imposed on slaughter of bovines. He termed it as blatant interference in religious matters.

Meanwhile, Indian police during its raids on houses and party offices arrested dozens of Hurriyet leaders and activists including Abdul Ahad Para, Hakeem Abdul Rashid, Engineer Hilal Ahmed War, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Muhammad Ramzan Khan, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and Javaid Ahmed Mir.

Police also raided the house of Ummat-e-Islami Chairman, Qazi Yasir, in Islamabad and harassed the inmates.
