JUI leader arrested in Chiniot for hate speech

CHINIOT: Jammiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam Fazal (JUI-F) leader Mufti Kifayat ullah has been arrested on Thursday under hate speech charges, TheNewsTribe.com reported.

Kifayat Ullah was arrested from Chiniot on Thursday evening.

District Police Officer Chiniot has also confirmed the arrest.

Sources said the CTD police station in Faisalabad had registered a case against him under the Anti-Terrorism Act for speaking against state institutions and praising terrorists.

The sources said that Mr Kifayatullah had criticised Zarb-i-Azb operation and allegedly glorified Malik Ishaq, a leader of the banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi killed recently in a police encounter, to stir up sectarian hatred. He also raised slogans against the state institutions.
