IKOBANE: Canadian aunt of Aylan Kurdi, the three year old Syrian who drowned in a bid to reach Europe, has revealed that “Daddy, please don’t die” were his last words.
Fatima Kurdi, who lives in Canada, said the toddler’s dying cries were a plea to his father Abdullah to save him as the pair struggled together in the Aegean Sea.
Aylan’s brother Galip, 5, and mother Rehan also perished, leaving Mr Kurdi as the sole survivor.

Ms Kurdi, who is Mr Kurdi’s sister, spoke to reporters in an interview in which she also voiced guilt for sending the family money to pay for the people-smugglers who put them in a flimsy boat across the sea from Turkey.
Pictures of Aylan’s lifeless body washed up on the shore at the Turkish resort of Bodrum made world headlines on Wednesday, and have proved a turning point in the debate over whether to allow Syrian asylum seekers into Europe.
Ms Kurdi, who has since spoken on the phone to Mr Kurdi, told The Times that he had revealed to her how he had frantically tried to save his sons’ lives while also trying not to drown himself.
