LAHORE: Pakistan Television sports (PTV sports) is all set to squander at least Rs 800 million for next three big International Cricket Council (ICC) events which include T20 World Cup, One Day International (ODI) World Cup, and Champions trophy.
According to PTV officials, this channel is ready to buy the broadcasting rights for these three big ICC events for next four years from Indian sports Channel Star Sports at the cost of almost $15-20 million.
Industry officials said that the actual amount of these rights is almost $12 million based on last four year deal.
It should be kept in mind that there is no competition for PTV sports in Pakistan which can buy rights of this big tournament but according to stats, the actual amount of buying rights of these events is almost $12 million but PTV is buying them in almost $15-20 million.
A little amount PTV wants to gift to giant Star Sports to buy much-needed state-of-the-art equipment to take its production to a level that could nudge it closer to international benchmarks.
