There is no doubt that WhatsApp is one of the popular communication tools of today’s digital generation. Though the app came to the desktop and laptop for Android, Window Phone and BlackBerry users earlier in the year, but it was still away from the reach of iPhone users.
The Facebook owned messaging service claimed that it was working on a solution for the iPhone, but it was not possible immediately thanks mainly due to the operating system level restrictions that Apple has put on app developers.
Fortunately, WhatsApp figured its way through iOS and on Thursday announced support for WhatsApp for the Web for iPhone users. So, here’s how you activate it — in case you didn’t figure things out.
- You need to login to web.whatsapp.com and it will present you a QR code.
- You need to open the WhatsApp app on your phone and dive into the setting menu.
- Make sure that you are running the latest build of the app.
- Once, that is resolved, you check in the settings menu for an option called WhatsApp Web.
- Tap the WhatsApp Web option and it will present you the camera viewfinder using which you have to scan the QR code you see in the web browser.
After that you should be good to go. We have tested the feature on Chrome, Safari and Firefox. That said, it should also work with Internet Explorer on Windows in the case you are still stuck in the 90’s.
