Hamid Gul passes away of Brain Hemorrhage

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s former spy chief General retd. Hamid Gul on Saturday passed away at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Murree, TheNewsTribe.com reported.

He was taken to hospital after he suffered a brain hemorrhage in Murree district of Pakistan’s southern province Punjab.

Her daughter,  Uzma Gul has also confirmed the news.

Gul, HI(M), SBt, commissioned in Pakistan Army in 1956 and retired in 1992.

He was a retired high-ranking general officer in the Pakistan Army, and a former spymaster famous for serving as the Director-General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency, between 1987 and 1989 during the late and post-stages of the Soviet invasion in Afghanistan.

He was posted as Corp Commander Multan from 1989-91.

Major Dr Pinhal Soomro of Combined Military Hospital (CMH) Murree confirmed the news as he said former Lt-General ”died of brain hemorrhage.”
