KARACHI: Anti-terrorism court of Karachi on Saturday extended the interim bail granted to member of the provincial assembly (MPA) Rauf Siddiqui till September 2.
Dozens of cases were registered in different police stations of the city against Siddiqui after the MQM chief Altaf Hussain speech against the security institutions.
The ATC had granted him protective pre-arrest bail which expired today.
The MPA moved the ATC and sought extension in his bail which was accepted by the court.
A week earlier, MQM suspended Abdur Rauf Siddiqui’s party membership.
“Rauf Siddiqui is thoroughly paralyzed mentally and ideologically. Hence, he is suspended from the party’s organizational membership,” MQM’s coordination committee said.
The MQM’s central decision-making body said Siddiqui will continue functioning as Sindh MPA but he will not be invited to attend the MQM’s organizational sittings, training sessions or any other intra-party meetings.
Rabita Committee said the party’s office-bearers overseeing the parliamentary matters may contact Siddiqui regarding assembly sessions and other concerned parliamentary affairs.
