Special Olympics 2015 : Swimming gold for Pakistan’s Asim Zar

LOS ANGELES: Pakistan’s special Olympian Asim Zar has Tuesday won first ever gold medal in Special Olympics 2015 inside the Uytengsu Aquatics Centre at University of Southern California.

Asim won the gold in 100 meter freestyle swimming competition in Los Angeles.

Asim Zar also won the Special Olympics Summer Games in Division M14 of the swimming final but was later disqualified for unknown reasons and Jamaica’s Jonathan Lowe was awarded the gold.

The 27-year-old was a star athlete at the 2007 Special Olympics in China, bagging two silver medals in 400 metre race and long jump.
