SBP announces Monetary Policy, interest rate unchanged

KARACHI: Governor State Bank of Pakistan Ashraf Mahmood Wathra has announced new Monetary Policy for the fiscal year 2015-16 on Saturday.

 The interest rate, which was previously at 7%, has been kept unchanged.

The central bank governor said that with the increase in development funds, coumtry’s development rate has improved.

He went on to say that government controlled inflation rate which has come lower at 4.5 percent with compare to last year’s 6.5 percent; therefore International Rating Agencies have rated Pakistan positive.

Ashraf Wathra told media that Balance of Payment conditions are also getting better.
