PRETORIA: South Africa’s ODI captain AB de Villiers and wife Danielle de Villiers became proud parents to a baby boy on Wednesday.
De Villiers, rated the best batsman of the modern generation, pulled out of the ongoing Test series against Bangladesh and chose to be with by his wife’s side. The child, called AB, and the mother are said to be doing well.
“We all feel very blessed and grateful. Mother and son are both doing well,” de Villiers was quoted as saying. AB de Villiers was accompanied by Danielle’s father, who shared pictures of the baby on Facebook. “Today I became a grandfather! Abraham Benjamin De Villiers (III) was born at 12:01 and weighed 3.2Kg. He is a good looking and healthy boy,” the post read.
The Twitter verse was quick to congratulate the happy couple and welcomed ‘Baby de Villiers’ with a slew of well-meaning jokes about its supposed superhuman abilities.
