Israeli court sentences Palestinian engineer to 21 years’ jail

JERUSALEM – A Palestinian rocket engineer has been sentenced to 21 years’ jail by Israeli court on Wednesday for allegedly helping Hamas to improve their weapon capabilities.

Palestinian engineer, Dirar Abu Sisi, detained by Israel in 2011, was a director of the Gaza Strip’s sole power station.

He said he was kidnapped during a visit to Ukraine in February and transferred secretly to Israel.

A ruling by panel of three judges stated that he accused had been found guilty of offenses carried out over a number of years against state security.

Abu Sisi originally denied wrongdoing and Hamas had also said he was never a member of their organization.
