South Africa beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets

DHAKA: After winning the Twenty20 series 2-0, South Africa went for third consecutive win on Bangladeshi soil as they comfortably beat Bangladesh in first of the three ODIs by 8 wickets.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first on a batting-friendly track. Openers Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar took a confident start but failed to maintain it as debutant Kagiso Rabada tormented the strong-looking batting line up and took 6 wickets for just 16 runs with 3 maidens in his 10-over spell.

Bangladesh were bowled out for 160 runs in 37th over. Star all-rounder, Shakib-al-Hassan was the top scorer for hosts with his invaluable 48 runs.

South Africa seemed solid in reply and chased down the easy total in 32nd over. Faf Du plessis scored not out 67 runs while Rilee Rossow backed him with his unbeaten 45 runs to seal the victory for protease.

The second ODI of the series will take place on Sunday.
