Ashes 2015: highlights Test One- Day three

CARDIFF: What a day for Test cricket! Fifteen wickets fell in a day. Australian bowlers came harder at England in the last session and took seven wickets in the span of 30 overs. England were bundled out for 289 within the third day. Australia will now need 412 runs to win the first Ashes Test.

Despite having a sore ankle, Starc bowled brilliantly but unfortunately ended up with two wickets. He bowled way better than his stats show.

Australian pacers in third innings, showed much discipline, and bowled line and length, and managed to bowl out England earlier than they would have expected. The pith, stats and expert views are against Australia, but they have to prove every one wrong! Aussies have to show the world that they are ‘Dad’s Army.’

England lost Cook early while Lyth chipped in with a useful knock. Ballance got out in the very first over after lunch and offered a tinge of excitement to the visitors. However, Bell and Root stood up and stitched a 97-run stand for the fourth wicket. Both batsmen registered their fifties in the process. Stokes, who looked in good touch, yet again failed to convert his knock into a big one.

Earlier In the day, England bowlers got rewards for being disciplined. Anderson bowled a spell to remember. He took 43-3, Broad Moeen and Wood bagged 2, 2 each. Australia lost their last five wickets 43 runs. For Australia, all the batters from 3 to 6, got out in the thirties, which happened for the first time in Test match cricket.

Over all good fight back from Aussies as they took last 6 wickets for 82 runs that will give them a hope to chase down the mammoth total. . Remember Pakistan chased 377 with ease a few days back against Sri Lanka, so don’t rule Australia out yet. Not this Clarke-led side. Not in the Ashes!
