ICC Champions Trophy 2017: Bangladesh not happy with Zimbabwe tri-series

DHAKA –  Bangladesh cricket board criticized international cricket scheduling system as Pakistan arranged tr-series to improve ODI rankings.

Tri-series threaten Bangladesh’s qualification for ICC Champions Trophy 2017. Bangladesh beat India few days ago and celebrated their qualification for Champions Trophy.

Bangladesh team also white washed Pakistan in ODI series and spot seventh position in ODI rankings.

Pakistan also get a chance to improve their ODI rankings in the five-match series against hosts Sri Lanka from July 11.

Pakistan cricket board arranged tri-series and invited West Indies and Zimbabwe team for this series.

Earlier, West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) confirmed that it will take part in a tri-series in Zimbabwe in August-September along with the hosts and Pakistan.

The schedule of the series is yet to be finalise as the last spot of Champions trophy hang in balance.

West Indies and Pakistan are currently ranked eighth and ninth in the International Cricket Council (ICC) One Day International (ODI) rankings, with only a point separating them.

Only the top-seven sides as on September 30, apart from hosts England, will make it to the 2017 Champions Trophy.

Bangladesh are ranked seventh and their recent win against India has given them a reasonably comfortable five-point lead over West Indies, with a three-match home series against South Africa to follow in July.

Pakistan have five ODIs against Sri Lanka in July but the Zimbabwe tri-series will be the only time West Indies play one-day cricket before the Champions Trophy cut-off date. The Caribbean side has not played any ODIs since the World Cup.
