LONDON – One of the most dreaded diseases of all time, stomach disorders, can be avoid meticulously by taking breath test which help identified it at initial stages.
Cancer of any type is equally hazardous specially esophageal and gastric cancers, importantly when it is diagnosed at the final stages.
This is the reason 15 percent deaths occurred globally by cancer related to gastric malignancies.
British researchers who have developed a breath test that can detect esophageal and gastric (stomach) cancer in just few minutes with 90 percent accuracy.
It easily distinguished between cancerous and non-cancerous tumors easily through their smell. The test has produced encouraging results in a clinical study of 210 patients, and will now be tested in a larger trial involving three hospitals in London.
Earlier, Doctors diagnose esophageal and gastric cancers by carrying out an endoscopy which is time taking and uneasy for patients.
But this procedure is different from old method of diagnosing cancer, takes less time and cause less pain.
It is a procedure in which breath test could address these problems because it helps to diagnose patients with early non-specific symptoms as well as reduce the number of invasive endoscopies carried out on patients.
Experts appreciated this invention and said that before this procedure, diagnosing cancer was so invasive and expensive but now this invention have changed the scenario.
Despite medical advancements and latest technologies over the years, there is no absolute cure. The only hope to get it cure is early detection, which is only possible by new breath test technique.
