Abid Sher Ali blames Sindh government for load shedding in Karachi

ISLAMABAD – State Minister for Water and Power, Abid Sher Ali said that Sindh government is responsible for un-scheduled load shedding in Karachi.

Abid Sher Ali said that, 650 megawatts of electricity is being given to the private company, K-electric that supplies power to Karachi.

According to details, State minister also said that a wrong contract was signed with K-electric in government of Musharaf and has not renewed yet.

While talking to media persons, he said that government will take over K-electric if situation will remain same in Karachi. He also mentioned that load shedding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is being carried out according to the schedule given by the Chief Minister of KP, Pervez Khattak.

“675,000 transformers across the country  need to be changed,” he added. He also said that government is trying to control the situation and trying to provide the relief to the people of Pakistan.

On the other hand, Federal Minister, Khuwaja Asif said that government will not take over K-electric in Karachi. He also said that situation is now under control and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is supervising the power issue.

He also blamed Sindh government for water and power issue in Karachi. Federal Minister told that PM chaired a cabinet meeting regarding this issue and instructed to take over the problem of power on emergency basis.
