ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said in the National Assembly that the federal government would provide as much as 50 percent of the Karachi developmental budget.
Nawaz said that the centre had already granted Rs.2 billion to Sindh Government for water supply across the metropolitan city. The Federal Government also allocated a sum of Rs.5 billion for the proposed Green Line Train project in Karachi, he added.
Usually, the federal government doesn’t fund provincial government projects but the federal government is providing funds for Karachi’s project,” he added.
The Prime Minister reiterated that the the ongoing targeted operation in Karachi was not directed at any specific political party but only criminals and terrorist were being targeted.
He noted that the operation was launched after consensus of all political parties. He added that the 20-point National Action Plan (NAP) was being implemented successfully across Pakistan.
