Target killers used ‘bullet catcher’ in Karachi, report

KARACHI: Investigative agencies have learnt that target killers used ‘bullet-catchers’ for not being identified during recent police officials killing in Karachi, Dawn news reported.

The revelation came up during the investigation of DSP Abdul Majid’s recent homicide when not a single bullet shell was found from the crime scene.

Similar concerns were raised during the investigation of three other policemen’s murder in Goth Bhanguryah of Azizabad.

Bullet-catcher is a pouch-like gadget attached to the gun to collect bullet shells fired from the gun. It prevents shells from dropping on the ground which helps them to escape from being identified.

It is suspected that bullet-catcher are being smuggled to the country because the purchase and sale of bullet-catcher is prohibited for civilians. Only security forces are allowed to use this gadget.

Pakistan’s economical hub is under a wave of target killings where three DSPs have been targeted amidst 45 days.
