Army Deployed In Gilgit-Baltistan During Elections

RAWALPINDI – The Inter-services Public Relations (ISPR) has revealed that the election commission and the civil government had requested the deployment of troops in Gilgit-Baltistan during the elections.

According to the sources, the ISPR formally announced the deployment of troops in GB- who would be responsible for maintaining law and order in the area.

Earlier this morning, the Ministry of Interior had also imposed Section-144 in Gilgit-Baltistan region on May 6.

According to the sources, the implementation would remain effective till June 20. The rallies and public gathering is forbidden soon after bringing Section-144 into effect in the jurisdiction.
