Pakistan lose skipper after a confident start

LAHORE: As first One-Day International match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe is in progresses, Pakistan have set off confidently, while batting first after winning the toss in Gaddafi stadium.

Pakistani openers were cautious during first six overs of the match, reading the pace and bounce of the pitch. Skipper Azhar Ali who is playing his first ODI at home soil, let himself loose free, playing his shorts, dancing on the pitch unorthodoxly, disturbing the line and length of Zimbabwean bowlers.

Azhar completed his half-ton in just 48 balls, while his partner Hafeez also reached to his another well-crafted fifty. The two have taken Pakistan to 161 for non in just 25 overs.

Azhar (79) while Hafeez (85) are still batting for Pakistan.

Pakistan, who stands ninth in the ranking with 87 points, has to sweep the three-match series convincingly in order to retain its position on ICC ODI Ranking Table.

The top eight teams will play ICC Champions Trophy in 2017.
