The nation wants to know it

‘Do not count your chickens before they are hatched’  this famous English saying struck to my mind as soon as I heard the news about prominent names of media group known as BOL disassociating themselves from the network. Well, as far as Kamran Khan is concerned, he was expected to leave sooner or later, but the rest of resignations were as shocking for me as for BOL’s executive Mr Shoaib Shaikh, who has probably been seeing the worst patch of his life.

The top names in the media industry considered pillars of the self-proclaimed ‘media revolution’ have left Bol crippled after announcing to quit. Besides Kamran Khan, Asma Shirazi, Iftikhar Ahmed, Azhar Abbas, Nusrat Javed, and Wajahat S Khan have also announced to quit Bol after its parent company Axact’s diploma scam uncovered by New York Times.

Some of their media colleagues have raised questions regarding the timings of resignations; some even wondered that personnel like Kamran Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed and Nusrat Javed had never known the ‘source of income’ of their parent organization. It is difficult to digest that a bunch of most prominent journalists of the country were fooled by a person with monkey business.

Before his resignation, Kamran Khan posted an interesting tweet on his account, leaving so many questions behind, read as “Charges against Axact far from proven in court but my conscience not letting me continue. I’ve decided to disassociate from Bol immediately.”

Your conscience sir? Will you please let us know what had your conscience been saying when you collected millions of rupees followed by luxuries of life in term your salary for over a year? Well, when now you have come to know that the money you were paid was from an illegal source, do you dare to return it? What does your conscience suggest you about it?

Following his old friend Kamran Khan’s feet, Iftikhar Ahmed wrote on his twitter account. “I cannot work for an organisation whose basic workings conflict with my professional commitment. I’ve decided to disassociate myself from Bol.”

Very well sir, well said and well done! But kindly let us understand what you exactly mean when you say ‘professional commitment’. You opted to leave a media group; you were associated for more than thirty years, on a sound offer made by BOL. Have you been offered a more handsome package by someone?

On the other hand, Mubashir Luqman, who probably was put in ‘waiting list’ from BOL management, has agreed to join BOL to fill the slot vacated by Kamran Khan. His heart touching tweet, twisted my mind let us have a look before we question it.

“Sorry to hear about all deserting Bol TV at this stage. Wish the collective conscience works when channels are doing well to.”

There is a bit of confusion sir, do you still feel sorry for them after knowing it all? The fake degree scam, the tax evasion, the money laundering and much more…

Oops, I beg your pardon if I exceeded my limits, you all are the ‘big fishes’ of the media-sea, while I am mere a minnow, a fledgling journalist who has yet to take his first swim in this sea. Of course I dare not to question you. But, you are accountable to those who made you what you are, YOUR NATION, the nation wants to know it.
