Only Eight Buses For Islamabad Schools

ISLAMABAD – The students of Islamabad are facing difficulties due to shortage of transport facilities, as only eight buses are available to provide pick and drop service to them.

Moreover, of these eight buses, five have been allocated to girls schools, while the remaining three are for boys.
A total of 391 primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary schools are operating in Islamabad under the name of Islamabad Model Schools (IMS), which are basically former Federal Government Schools (FGS).

Around 110,000 students are enrolled in these institutions. These institutions are working under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).

According to the sources the FDE has already forwarded a request to the Finance Ministry in this regard and demanded Rs1.8 Billion to provide transport facilities at these schools.

FDE Administration and Coordination Director Sahib Raza Hussain Kharal told that all the institutions were running under the FDE since its creation in 1967, but they launched a new project of Islamabad Model Colleges (IMCs) in 1993 with initially 10 institutions. The FGS/FGC had also been working parallel to IMCs.
