Two Drowned While Crossing Broken Bridge

PESHAWAR – At least two are being reported to have lost their lives near Safeen chowk , Peshawar, on Thursday evening when a canal bridge broke down into pieces.

According to sources, the residents of the area registered a number of complaints to irrigation department drawing their attention towards the poor condition of the bridge but no one heard to their cries.

The local residents also complained at the time of incident. The irrigation department officials were immediately informed but rather than helping recover the drowned bodies, they were busy taking their lunch, sources said.

The local residents upon resentment blocked Peshawar ring road to demonstrate their protest and also chanted slogans against the provincial government.
