Crackdown Against Illegal Meat Sellers

LAHORE – Chief Minister Punjab, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has ordered the administration to take strict action against those selling forbidden meat.

CM said that the government would not relax those who would sell the inappropriate meat or the meat obtained from ill animals. The penalty, if found guilty, has been decided as 10 years imprisonment and 30 lac rupees fine.

He further said that he would not afford to let the public consume inappropriate meat and ordered the concerned departments to start a crackdown against the butchers not abiding by the restrictions.

The CM asked for necessary amendments in “Punjab Food Authority Act” and “Animal Slaughtering Act” under Punjab Local Government Ordinance.
