We Want Peaceful Relations With India

SIALKOT – Minister for Defence and Water and Power Khawaja Mohammad Asif said that the government wanted durable peace with all its neighbors, including India.

Addressing a public meeting in Pasrur village along the Sialkot Working Boundary, he said that the government was aware of the situation and was committed to eradicating terrorism from the country.

He praised the armed forces for their role in curbing militancy, insurgency and terrorism in the country and said the Zarb-e-Azb operation was achieving its objectives and progressing successfully.

He said the nation was united against terrorism and prepared to render sacrifices and fight militants, shoulder-to-shoulder with the armed forces.

The minister expressed solidarity with villagers suffering from the hostile actions of the Indian Border Security Force along the boundary.

Earlier, the minister laid the foundation stone of the Government Girls Degree College in the village of Bajra Garhi and inaugurated a project for construction of Sialkot-Kingra Road in tehsil Pasrur.

Khawaja Asif said the government was spending Rs1.20 billion on the projects. Besides, he added, Rs56 billion would be spent on the construction of Sialkot-Lahore expressway.

The minister said the government was committed to resolving crises that it had inherited, particularly the energy crisis to put the country on the path of development and economic stability.
