Free Water Tankers To Be Provided In Karachi

KARACHI – Sindh Information and Local Government Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has stated that the service comprising thousand free water tankers will start from today, in the city for the areas facing acute water shortage.

Talking to reporters after a meeting held with the management of the Karachi Water Sewerage Board (KWSB) and the city administration to review the water crisis in the city, he said that the tanker service would be free of cost and in Ramadan, the number of tankers would be increased from 1,000 to 3,000 to overcome the crisis.

He said that the Karachi Water Supply Board (KWSB) had taken short-term and long-term decisions for the water management and to overcome the crisis, including immediately increasing 162MGD water supply to the city.

Answering to a question, he held previous regimes responsible for slow progress on the K-4 project and said the present government had taken due steps to speed up its progress and taken steps to provide 13,500 acres land for the implementation of the K-4 project.

In reply to a question about the Safoora bus killings, he said it was a national tragedy, and the law enforcement agencies had found some clues to the killers. The culprits would be apprehended very soon, he said.

The minister said the terrorists were well trained and police were imparting training to tackle them for which the government provided equipment and weapons to the police.
