KARACHI- Billions of rupees of counterfeit medicines are being vended in the different markets in Karachi, report of Pakistan Drug Regulatory Authority (PDRA).
International donors’ eschewed usage of Pakistan made medicines for the victims of natural disaster and North Waziristan displaced persons of Pakistan.
They preferred to import medicines from abroad. Whereas nine countries of the world including Sri Lanka, Kenya and other African countries have put embargo on the import of Pakistani medicines.
According to a drug inspector of Pakistan Drug Regulatory Authority that, internationally the standard of Bangladesh and Indian made medicines is much better than Pakistani ones.
He said that approximately four hundred factories are producing counterfeit medicines in Pakistan.
But even no attention was paid to the decreasing standard of medicines produced by licensed companies.
He said that smuggled drugs are as dangerous as counterfeits are.
All these medicines are being vended in the renowned pharmacies of Pakistan including Karachi.
Moreover, the employees of big organizations are compelled to purchase these medicines.
