Helicopter Crashes In Naltar Valley Gilgit

GILGIT – Helicopter MI-17 has hit the school building here in Naltar valley, Gilgit during landing and crashed on Friday, TheNewsTribe.com reported.

According to ISPR, the media relation department of Pakistan Armed Forces, two pilots including four foreign ambassadors and their wives died in the sad incident.

The two ambassadors were from Philippines and Norway, while wives of ambassadors of Indonesia and Malaysia lost their lives in the tragic incident in Pakistan’s North Western Gilgit Baltistan region on Friday.

The pilots who embraced martyrdom in the incident are Major Altamash and Major Faisal.

The injured person includes the ambassadors from Lebanese envoy and High commissions of many countries.

According to Foreign Office, this was the trip of the foreign ambassadors to the Naltar valley. Four Helicopters were taking them to the Naltar valley, while three land safely and one crashed while landing.

According to Ministry of Defense, in depth investigation to be carried out to find the cause of the investigation.

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, announced a one day mourn in the remembrance of those killed in the crash.

There is the danger of loss of lives in the crash landing, eleven foreigners and seven Pakistanis were on board.

According to police, the helicopter had a peaceful flight but while landing it hit the school building and crashed injuring nine persons.

According to DG ISPR, all the passangers are safe in the helicopter and not even a single life lost in crash landing.

Initial reports suggest that there is no loss of life registered yet but nine persons injured in an accident including foreign nationals.

The injured one are transferred to the local hospital to have initial medical treatment.

Rescue team has also reached the spot to rescue the persons from the helicopter.
