Zufiqar Mirza along with supporters attack police station in Badin

BADIN: The situation turned tense in Badin city as police reportedly tried to detain former Sindh Home Minister Zulfiqar Mirza’s supporter of Sunday.

According to details, police tried to arrest Nadeem Mughal, a supporter of Dr Zulfiqar Mirza, but his colleagues helped him escape.

Former Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader accompanied by his gunmen, forced shopkeepers to shut down their businesses in the city.

Dr Mirza reached the local police station where he got into an altercation with the police officer on duty.

The furious former home minister broke the glass table top in the deputy superintendent’s office, and also broke his mobile phone and hurling abuses at him.

Dr Mirza said that he had gone to the police station to register a case against what he called the attempted kidnapping of his supporter.

He said that a local politician wanted to ‘kidnap’ his supporter and murder him in a police ‘encounter’.
