Tamim Iqbal double ton helps Bangladesh to drawn first Test against Pakistan

KHULNA: As Pakistan bowling ling up failed to restrict Bangladesh batting, the first Test match between the two countries ended in a draw.

Tamim Iqbal scored his maiden double century as the hosts, trailing Pakistan by 296 runs on the first innings, made 555 for six in their second knock on the fifth and final day at the Sheikh Abu Naser stadium.

Imrul Kayes knocked 150 in the Bangladesh total while Shakib Al Hasan made unbeaten 76 before both captains’ shacked hands and called for draw.

Mohammad Hafeez and Junaid Khan picked up two wickets each while Zulfiqar Babr and Asad Shafique grabbed a wicket each for the visitors.

Tamim Iqbal was awarded with man of the match for his brilliant batting.

Day 4:

Bangladesh in replay of Pakistan’s lead of 296 runs made 273 without losing any wicket at stumps day 4.

Both openers made a record partnership for Bangladesh for any wicket as both managed to score centuries for the side.

Tamim made 138 while Kayes scored 132 at stumps day 4.

Earlier, Pakistan started its incomplete innings from 537 for loss of five wickets. The Green-shirts only managed to score 91 runs before getting all out. Asad Shafiq made 83 while Sarfraz added 82 runs to the total.

Pakistan was all out on 628 as Taijul Islam picked up 3 wickets while Mohammad Shahid and Shakib Al Hasan managed to pick up one wicket for the side.

Day 3:

Pakistan started the day with 227 runs on the score board on loss of a wicket with Mohammad Hafeez and Azhar Ali were out there to continue the incomplete innings.

At the score of 277 Azhar lost his wicket after scoring 83. On the other hand Hafeez went on to compete his first ever double century. He made 224 before nicking one to slips.

Skipper Misbah-ul-Haq made 59 while Asad Shafiq and Sarfraz Ahmed made unbeaten half centuries at Stumps.

Taijul Islam and Shuvagata Hom picked up two wickets each in the day.

Day 2:

Bangladesh started their incomplete innings from 236 runs with six wickets in hand. The host added 96 runs to the total before getting all out on 332.

Wahab Riaz and Yasir Shah picked 2 wickets each while Mohammad Hafeez and Zulfiqar Babar grabbed one wicket each in the day.

Pakistan chasing 332 had a great start as they manage to put 50 runs for the first wicket. Debutant Sami Aslam failed to play a big inning as he lost his wicket after scoring 20 runs.

Mohammad Hafeez batting clicked at the right time as he scored 8th century of Test career while Azhar Ali had a few chances as he scored another great half century.

Both batsmen remained unbeaten at stumps. Hafeez so far scored 137 while Azhar made 65.

Taijul Islam picked up the only wicket for Bangladesh in the day.

Sarfraz-Playing-sweep

Day 1:

Bangladesh have the great opening start after winning the toss as they manage to score 52 on loss of a wicket.

Imrul Kayes played a great knock of 51 runs before getting caught and bowled by Mohammad Hafeez while Mahmudullah lost his wicket just one runs short to add another half century to his career.

Mominul Haque continued his terrific run in Test cricket scoring yet another half century. He was the last man dismissed on 80 runs.

Shakib Al Hasan remained unbeaten on 19 at stumps.

Wahab Riaz, Zulfiqar Babar, Yasir Shah and Mohammad Hafeez picked up a wicket each while Junaid Khan remained wicket less in the match so far.
