ISLAMABAD – Consensus has been built to follow uniform prayer timings in the capital city and Azan to be called simultaneously in a meeting held by Ministry of Religious Affairs on Wednesday.
The Ministry Of Religious Affairs, in the presence of ten eminent scholars from different sects, taken the decision to observe the uniform prayer timing in capital city Islamabad.
A calendar is being arranged for the uniform timings of prayers in Islamabad.
Traders and representatives of chambers of commerce were also invited to the meeting as the Religious Affairs ministry wanted to discuss the proposal of closing commercial centers during prayer.
The Ministry Of Religious Affairs has prepared a calendar of prayer timings for the entire year and has handed it over to 10-member Salaat committee for consideration.
On March 26, the government had informed the National Assembly that it was consulting religious scholars from all sects to introduce uniform prayer timings in the federal capital.
Sources told The News Tribe that, religious leaders of almost all the schools of thoughts had principally agreed on the uniform prayer timing, formally authorizing the religious ministry to announce and enforce the policy.
The sources also told that as the notification of uniform prayer timings has been issued, there will be uniform timing for Azan and prayers and Friday prayer will also be held at the same time.
