Half of the world precluded of health facilities

GENEVA: United Nations in its latest report revealed that half of the world’s rural population does not have access to the basic health facilities.

The report issued by the International Liberal Organization of United Nations said that there is a uniformity found in the differentiation in the availability of basic health facilities between rural and urban areas all over the globe equally from developed to developing countries.

According to the statistics obtained from 174 countries, 56% of the world’s rural population is bereaved of very basic health facilities. In relation to this, 22% of the population living in cities and towns are unable to get access to basic health facilities.

There are a number of reasons contributing to this growing disparity. Among the most significant ones is greater separation between rural and urban areas in terms of distance, resulting in increased costs, communication difficulties, transportation problems of critically ill patients, and unavailability of medicines as well as that of doctors and Para-medical staff.

It is quite often that the best medical talent is observed to be tilted towards serving in the urban areas rather than the vice versa, where greater social and financial opportunities are available. This results in the staffing shortages in mini towns and rural areas.
