Afghan President Holds Delegation Level Talks With Narendra Modi

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani met Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday for delegation level talks.

Ghani was received by Indian President at a ceremonial reception this morning.

“India will walk shoulder to shoulder with you and the Afghan people in a mission of global importance” says Indian PM at joint briefing with President Ghani.

The talks are being held at Hyderabad House.

Earlier, President Ghani met Sushma Swaraj Minister of External Affairs, who called on him at the Dwarka Suite of Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Before that Ghani was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Several union ministers, including of Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Defense Minister Manohar Parrikar and Health Minister J.P. Nadda, will later call on him. Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari will also call on him.

Ghani is also expected to deliver the keynote address at the Indian Council of World Affairs, this evening. He will also formally call on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee and attend the presidential banquet.

Ghani will also hold a business meeting with the India business organizations CII, FICCI and Assocham on Wednesday. He leaves on Wednesday evening.

Ghani arrived in India on Monday night on a three-day state visit, his first after becoming the president seven months ago.
While meeting Afghan Students in India, Ghani assures them that problems in their payments, passport and visa will be resolved soon.

in an interview to an Indian News channel He said “fundamental peace is needed between Pakistan and Afghanistan to end the undeclared hostilities between the two neighbors”.
