NA-246: A Contest Between Dozen Candidates

KARACHI – In the by-election of NA-246, 12 candidates are contesting the election, but major Clash seems to be between Kite of MQM, Bat of PTI and Tarazu (Scales) of JI.

PTI, JI and spokesperson of the Rangers are saying that there is no need to increase the time of the polling. Almost 10 minutes remains in the voting time. MQM is still pressing the Election Commission to increase the time of the Polling for 3 hours.

A Suspected Person has been arrested by the Rangers from the Polling Station Number 182, the person was making video of inside the polling station in his mobile phone.

MQM’s candidate Kanwar Naveed Jamil writes a letter to the Chief Election Commission regarding the irregularities in the polling.

Rangers, in a successful raid in Delhi School Karachi, arrested two presiding officers doing bogus voting in the NA-246.

Jamaat-i-Islami writes one more letter to the Election Commission regarding the alleged rigging in the NA-246.

Election Commission responded to the demands of the MQM saying that Polling Process is very normal and every thing is under control, it is time taking because Rangers have to scrutinize every person casting the vote.

Farooq Sattar demands election commission to increase the polling time to 3 hours, because voting process is very slow only one vote casted in one hour.

The Rangers arrested one more person from the Liaqatabad Polling station doing bogus polling as a polling agent.

The Polling will continue till 05 pm, and more than 9000 Police force is installed in and outside the 213 polling stations.

The Rangers has arrested the two suspected persons from outside the Muslim government school, Azizabad, Polling station.

In Karimabad, the workers of MQM and PTI came head to head again.

Before this the contestant of PTI, Imran Ismael, reached the Karimabad polling station where workers of MQM done hooting and hit slogans to the Imran Ismael.

The political temperature is at its peak today (Thursday) in Karachi in NA-246, the much awaited polling in NA-246 is going on.

According to source, the polling started at sharp 0800 PST, while some polling station saw the polling delayed due to the security reasons.

The Director General of Rangers (Sindh), Major Bilal Akhtar, also visited the polling stations early in the morning on Thursday to oversee the security situation in and around the polling stations and polling booths.

The major three candidates are also paying the visit to the different polling stations and booths to see the climate there in the polling stations.

Rashid Naseem of JI told the Election Commissioner that workers of MQM entered in the Polling Stations with display cards of returning officers and stopped the people from casting the vote.

Upon this the Election Commissioner takes the notice of this act and directed the Presiding Officer therein to submit the report regarding the accusation of Rashid Naseem.
