Negotiations With Taliban, Ashraf Ghani Seeks Pakistan’s Help

KABUL: Due to long driven poor law and order situation in Afghanistan, to address these issues its President Ashraf Ghani expressed his willingness to sought help from Pakistan to hold talks with Taliban.

Afghan President expressed this wish during a meeting with Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Pervez Khattak in Afghan presidential palace in the met.

Khattak, during his two-day visit to Afghanistan, meet with Afghan chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, ex-President of Hamid Karzai and other.

On his visit to Afghanistan, advisors and members of provincial including the 26 officials members of government were also the part of Minister Pervez Khattak’s delegation.

 Chief Minister Pervez Khattak visit was part of government efforts to build cordial relations between the two countries, especially to enhance bilateral trade.

Khattak said, talking to media, “Afghan trip was aimed to end the bitterness between the two countries and to build better understanding of each other”.

Afghan President urged Pakistan to help to start negotiations between the Afghan government and the Taliban and said that the region’s peace and security is in the favor of the two countries.

Afghan officials have said that in the first weeks of March Pakistan assures that it will assist in the negotiation process with Taliban but the change over time in Islamabad’s behavior is highly discouraging.

According to Khattak, Ashraf Ghani said that he had a great desire to build strong and lasting relationship between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Khattak said that he have seen strong hopes of Afghan leaders to have friendly and peaceful relations with Pakistan.

“I was welcomed by  Afghanistan president. Had a good discussion on peace, terrorism, refugees as well as economy”, says Khattak.
