A look at the players rankings who retired after the World Cup

MELBOURNE: As Michael Clarke, Brendan Taylor, Misbah-ul-Haq, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene have the curtain fell on the One Day Internationals (ODI) careers let’s see who finished at the top.

Sri Lankan legend, Kumar Sangakkar who was the second highest scorer of the tournament and also the second highest scorer of ODI haven’t have the great finish at the World Cup due to a terrible performance in quarter final by the team.

He may not have the great farewell to his career but on International Cricket Council (ICC) batsman rankings he finished on the 2nd spot while his teammate Mahela Jayawardene ended with 34th spot in the rankings.

Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq whose career ended after a thrilling match against Aussies in the quarterfinal was the leading run scorer for Pakistan in the tournament averaging exactly 50.

He fined his career at 12th spot. Shahid Afridi who is known for his aggressive batting finished his 19 year long career in the tournament. He was on the 44th spot for batting while gained 30th spot in the bowling. As an all-rounder he finished off with 6th spot.

Brandon Taylor who wrote history in the world cup by smacking back to back centuries in his last two games for the side. He finished off his career at 20th spot.

Michael Clarke who has a fairytale finish to his brilliant career. He not only climbed three spot to reach 29 spot in the rankings but also ended up as the winning skipper of the side in the tournament.
