ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Thursday said that the ongoing operation against criminals in Karachi was in the interest of everyone.
During a meeting with a delegation of Pakistan Msulim League-Nawaz (PML-N) MNAs at Prime Minister’s House Islamabad, the prime minister said that Karachi was the economic hub of the country and the ongoing operation was launched after taking all stakeholder on-board and with complete consensus of political parties.
Nawaz said that the operations against criminals, gangsters and those involved in extortion and kidnapping for ransom was in the best interest of everyone; political parties, businessmen, institutions, civil society and the citizens as well.
He opined that the action had brought down considerably incidence of targeted killings, kidnapping for ransoms and extortion in the metropolis.
The meeting discussed the government measures being taken for meeting the challenges faced by the country.
The Prime Minister commented that the past ills could not be addressed overnight with magic stick. The government was striving to overcome the challenges though concerted efforts and comprehensive strategy.
Duration of load shedding would be brought down during upcoming summer, he added.
