ISLAMABAD: National anti-polio campaign will begin all over the country from today (Monday) except Quetta, Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to mobilisation of security forces for the 23rd March parade.
According to the Prime Minister’s polio monitoring and coordination cell, about 35.5 million children up to the age of five years will be administered anti polio drops during the drive.
About eighty thousand teams will administer polio drops to the children at their doorsteps. Another nine thousand teams will be deputed at fixed centres and four thousand will cover transit points for the vaccination of travelling children.
District authorities have been asked to ensure deployment of vaccination teams at each health facility.
Prime Minister’s Focal Person Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq has directed the authorities concerned to ensure that all the targeted children are vaccinated against polio drops.
The campaign in Rawalpindi is re-scheduled for 24th of this month whereas Islamabad for the 30th of this month. Dates for Quetta are being worked out.
Campaign in snow bound areas of the country including parts of Abbottabad, Chitral, Mansehra, Astore and Skardu has been postponed.
