Newly-elected senators including Sirajul Haq to take oath today

ISLAMABAD: As many As 48 newly-elected members of the senate including Ameer Jamat-e-Islami Pakistan , Sirajul Haq will take oath as Senators today.

The first session of the new senate will commence from today. As a representative of the president of Pakistan, Senator Ishaq Dar will administer oath to the newly-elected senators and the elections of the new chairman of the senate will be conducted under his supervision and he will also administer oath to the new chairman senate, Raza Rabbani who will be elected unopposed in the second sitting of the session.
The new chairman senate will conduct the elections of the deputy chairman senate and will administer oath to the new deputy chairman senate.
 

Raja Zafarul Haq, Pervez Rasheed, Mushahidullah khan, Najma Hameed, Hasil Bisenju, Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Farooq H Naek, Rehman Malik and others are included in the senators who will take oath today.
It is pertinent to mention here that Syed Nuyyar Hussain Bukhari has retired from his office and the out-going chairman senate belonged to Islamabad and Pakistan people’s Party (PPP) and was performing duties as chairman senate since 2012 and he has retired on March 11, 2015 and today (Thursday) senator Raza Rabbani belonging to PPPP will be elected unopposed as new chairman senate.
Meanwhile, the seat of Sirajul Haq as a member provincial assembly will be vacant after his oath. JI had eight seats in the KPK assembly before, which will be reduced to seven after the promotion of JI Chief in the Upper House whereas JI has yet not announced its new candidate for the vacant seat. Sirajul Haq was elected as MPA from PK-95 Deer Lower-2 and had also served as senior provincial minister.
