Shoaib Akhtar advise helped Indian pacer’s improvement in bowling

Indian pacer Mohammad Shami has given credit to Pakistan former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar for bringing back rhythm in his bowling, an Indian newspaper reported.

The pacer said the former Pakistan bowler had advised him to reduce his run-up, which has helped him increase his pace.

Talking about the change in his run-up in a post-match chat on Star Sports, Shami said “the recent change in run-up has surely increased my pace. So I am continuing with it and hoping that it pays rich dividends. I did have a chat with Shoaib Akhtar and he suggested that I should reduce my big run-up. So, I shortened my stride and it has worked. It is smooth and comfortable and it has also increased my pace,”

Shami , bagged three wickets at the WACA against West Indies to help table-toppers India register their fourth straight win and book a quarter-final berth from pool B.

As per an Indian TV channel ABP Live, the Indian pacer had met Shoaib a few months ago and they have been in touch after that.

Shoaib also highlighted his advise to Shami before India’s match with West Indies game “I have told Shami to keep it simple and advised him on a few areas.”
