Don’t take green shirts lightly says Saeed Ajmal

LAHORE: Pakistan ace spinner Saeed Ajmal has said that the World Cup teams should not take Team Green lightly after Pakistan tremendous win against World Cup’s favorite team South Africa, Indian news channel NDTV reported.

Ajmal said Pakistan team appeared as strong team and it would be a far more dangerous and positive side.

The green shirts have got a much awaited victory which was needed at the time, he added.

Talking about future captain, the bowler said Misbah would retire from ODIs after World Cup which will create vacuum as a batsman and captain, he suggested Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to do planning in this regard.

Before start of the World Cup, Misbah, 40, has announced that while he will continue to play Test cricket after the World Cup he will retire from one-day matches.

Ajmal opined that batsman Azhar Ali has the potential to not only perform with the bat like Misbah in recent years but could also be groomed as a captain.

Chasing 232 runs to win under the Duckworth-Lewis method at Eden Park, Pakistan got a third successive victory on March 7 by bowling out the highly-rated South Africans for 202 despite captain AB de Villiers’ valiant 77.

It is pertinent to mention here that Saeed Ajmal has been cleared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after he undergone bowling test in India. He is working on making his remodeled bowling action more improved.
