Australia huge ton make it victorious against Sri Lanka

SYDNEY: Australian huge piled up of 376 runs against Asian cricket team Sri Lanka made it victorious as Srilankan whole squad was bowled out at 312 runs in Sydney on Sunday in pool A match of World Cup 2015.

Sri Lanka lost the match by 64 runs despite great performance of many players including Sangakkara who scored 104 runs. Chandimal quick innings of 52 off 24 balls could not also make any difference.

Australia piled up 376 for nine against Sri Lanka in their World Cup Pool A match at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday.

Glenn Maxwell scored the second-fastest hundred in the history of the World Cup, off 51 balls, and his innings of 102 was also his maiden one-day international hundred.

He did give a tough chance on 93 when dropped by wicketkeeper Kumar Sangakkara, running back to chase a skyer.

Maxwell and recalled all-rounder Shane Watson (67) put on 160 for the fifth wicket while Steve Smith (72) and skipper Michael Clarke (68) also hit half-centuries. Lasith Malinga was the pick of Sri Lanka´s attack with two for 59.

Sri Lanka will now have to set a new World Cup record if they are to win this match, with the highest winning total by a team batting second in the tournament´s 40-year history Ireland´s 329 for seven against England in Bangalore in 2011.
