Media should avoid publishing unverified statements of PM: Press Secretary

ISLAMABAD: The office of the press secretary of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has stressed upon the media to remain careful while passing comments about recent unverified statements wrongly attributed to prime minister.

According to the statement issued by the press secretary of PM, it has been noted with concern that a section of the media at times carries statements and comments attributed to the Prime minister which have in fact not been made by him. These are unfortunately imaginary and self created for reasons better known to their fabricators.
In this regard it is requested that media may exercise care while publishing/ broadcasting such statements, and unverified stories may not be entertained as such statements tend to be misleading.

It is, therefore, requested that source of any statement attributed to the Prime Minister, which is not based on press releases or any other credible source may kindly be confirmed with the Press Secretary or Spokesman PM House.
