ECP takes notice of rigging allegations in Senate polls

ISLAMABAD: After rigging allegations leveled by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) retired Justice Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan took notice of the allegations decided to conduct a probe into the charges.

Earlier, PPP General Secretary Raja Pervez Ashraf alleged that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, the ruling PTI members were taking out ballot papers from the Assembly premises. He had urged the Chief Election Commissioner to take notice of the alleged rigging.

CEC Justice (retd) Sardar Mohammad Raza Khan said that if Raja Pervez has any evidence he should present the same to the commission and action would be taken against those found responsible for the act.

He said that the Commission would take action against anyone found involved in rigging in Senate elections.
